India-Japan Forge Stronger Energy Ties for a Greener Future
India and Japan have agreed to enhance their cooperation in the energy sector, focusing on carbon capture, biofuels, and green technologies. The reinforcement came during a ministerial-level dialogue, reinforcing their commitment to energy security and climate change mitigation in the Indo-Pacific region.

India and Japan have pledged to bolster their collaboration in the realm of energy, specifically targeting areas such as carbon capture, utilization and storage, green chemicals, biofuels, and advanced technologies. This decision emerged from a ministerial-level India-Japan Energy Dialogue conducted via video conference on Monday. The virtual meeting was co-chaired by India's Minister of Power, Manohar Lal, and Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Muto Yoji.
The two nations are deepening ties under the Japan-India Clean Energy Partnership, emphasizing energy security, clean energy transition, and tackling climate change. A statement from the power ministry highlighted the partnership's progress, emphasizing its importance for addressing climate challenges. Institutionalizing this cooperation, both sides have established sectoral Joint Working Groups (JWGs) to streamline efforts.
Ministries from both countries made presentations on achievements and future pathways under their respective JWGs. India's and Japan's ministers reaffirmed their commitment to energy security and inclusive growth, lauding progress in energy efficiency and renewable sectors. Both countries aim to advance resilient and sustainable energy systems in the Indo-Pacific region.
