Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took the stage on Police Commemoration Day to honor the sacrifice of brave policemen at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi. The memorial visit marked the anniversary of the 1959 ambush at Hot Springs, Ladakh, where 10 policemen lost their lives to heavily armed Chinese troops.
In his address, Singh celebrated the pivotal role of police and paramilitary forces in securing the nation. He asserted that the military and police, though operating on distinct platforms, share the common goal of national protection. As India aims for Viksit Bharat by 2047, Singh emphasized the growing need to balance external and internal security, citing emerging organized crime and terrorism.
Highlighting progress against Naxalism, Singh praised the coordinated efforts of the police, CRPF, BSF, and local administration in transforming the Red Corridor into areas of growth and development.
