During the inauguration of the fourth India Maritime Week-2025 in Mumbai, Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized India's crucial role in connecting the Indo-Pacific with the Global South through its maritime capabilities. He underscored that India's democratic stability and naval strength are pivotal in fostering development, security, and environmental protection in these regions.
Shah highlighted India's rich maritime history, dating back 5000 years, and expressed the nation's readiness to carve out a new legacy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. He pointed out the historical trade evidence from the Lothal port to Egypt and reiterated India's ambition to transform Mumbai's Gateway of India into a Gateway of the World.
Addressing the summit, Shah called upon global investors to harness the vast potential of India's maritime sector, emphasizing the country's extensive 11,000-kilometer coastline and significant economic contributions from maritime businesses. He noted the region's attractiveness to investors and its substantial contribution to global exports, opening up invitations for global maritime industry leaders to engage with India's burgeoning market.
