A Parliamentary panel has highlighted the urgent need for better coordination between states and project developers to expedite solar energy schemes under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Delays have plagued multiple initiatives, including Muft Bijli Yojana, PM-KUSUM, and solar park developments, due to lack of awareness and regional imbalances.

The committee's report raises concerns over the non-signing of power purchase agreements for 44 GW of renewable energy bids by key agencies as of mid-2025. It further notes the significant shortfall in rooftop solar installations under Muft Bijli Yojana, with over 80% of the target yet to be achieved by 2027.

Among recommendations, the panel calls for personalized awareness campaigns, supportive policies, single-window clearance for land issues, and improved transmission line strategies. Emphasis is placed on increased financial assistance, timely monitoring, and an exclusive portal for managing transmission sector concerns, to accelerate solar energy development in India.
