BJP leader Priyanka Tibrewal has taken a harsh stand against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her absence at a mass Gita recitation event in Kolkata. Tibrewal criticized Banerjee's decision, accusing her of political bias and suggesting religious preference as the reason for skipping the event attended by over 5 lakh people.
According to Tibrewal, Banerjee was invited but opted out, claiming it was a BJP event. Tibrewal contested this, insisting that there were no BJP symbols present at the event, which was meant for saints and sages. She argued that labeling revered figures like Baba Bageshwar as BJP affiliates was an insult.
West Bengal's Leader of Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, echoed Tibrewal's sentiments, labeling Banerjee as 'anti-Hindu.' Banerjee, however, defended her choice by stating that the event's affiliation with the BJP conflicted with her party's ideology and disrespect for historical Indian figures like Netaji and Gandhiji.
