Passengers across India faced significant travel disruptions as a result of a widespread wave of cancellations by IndiGo on Tuesday. Over 400 flights have been cancelled so far, with Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport reporting the highest impact of 152 cancelled flights, officials revealed.
Southern airports also felt the brunt of the cancellations. Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport had 58 arrivals and 63 departures cancelled, while Chennai reported 18 departures and 23 arrivals axed. Hyderabad Airport logged 44 departures cancelled, and Ahmedabad reported 16 cancellations.
Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu indicated flight operations were returning to stability despite ongoing challenges. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation mandated IndiGo reduce operations by 5% due to inefficiencies in its winter schedule, demanding a revised schedule from the airline by December 10, 2025.
