Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda announced that 44,208 farmers have yet to receive compensation for crop losses due to rain and floods, primarily due to technical mismatches in official records.
During a Legislative Council session, Gowda responded to MLC Thippannappa Kamakanur's concerns, explaining that discrepancies in farmers' names on Aadhaar and agriculture department records are causing delays in compensation payouts. Upon rectifying these errors, funds will be deposited into the farmers' bank accounts.
The Karnataka government has reportedly allocated Rs 2,300 crore in compensation for crop, livestock, and housing damages this monsoon season. Gowda assured expedited action on claims and mentioned ongoing efforts to advance crop insurance payouts.
