The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken a firm stand in support of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla following the Opposition's motion seeking his removal. BJP MP Sujeet Kumar questioned the timing of the motion, suggesting it stems from what he describes as a 'demoralised' opposition rather than any misconduct by Birla.
Speaking to ANI, Kumar referenced Article 94 of the Constitution, which allows for such motions, but argued that the real motivation behind this move is the opposition's consistent rejection by the electorate. He urged for a focus on substantive issues rather than 'drama and theatrics.'
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Minister Pankaj Rajesh Bhoyar highlighted Prime Minister Modi's endorsement of Birla, praising his skills in managing the House. Bhoyar emphasized Birla's success in ensuring a platform for all party leaders and countered allegations of partisanship, as the budget session's second phase approaches with the motion on the table.
