The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Himanshu Gupta, a contractor charged in connection with the death of a biker, Kamal Dhyani, in Janakpuri, Delhi. The decision was influenced by the absence of a police response to Gupta's bail plea, as well as the previous interim bail provided to co-accused Kavish Gupta.

The incident occurred in February when Dhyani, riding his motorcycle, fell into an uncovered pit, leading to his death. Gupta and two others have been charged by Delhi Police. The charges include criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The case has raised questions about municipal responsibilities regarding road safety.

A division bench, comprising Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and NV Anjaria, emphasized that the matter required further hearing and noted the absence of a counter affidavit from authorities. Himanshu Gupta's bail is effective until the next court date on May 18, 2026, with conditions for cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
