World food prices extend rise in April for a third month, FAO says

​World food ​prices climbed ‌in April for ​a third consecutive month, with ‌vegetable oil prices particularly elevated due to disruptions linked to the ‌Iran war, the United Nations ‌Food and Agriculture Organization said on Friday.

The FAO Food Price Index, which ⁠measures ​changes ⁠in a basket of globally traded food ⁠commodities, averaged 130.7 points in April, ​up 1.6% from its revised ⁠March level.

In a separate report, ⁠the ​FAO slightly raised its 2025 global cereal production estimate ⁠to a record 3.040 billion metric ⁠tons, ⁠6% above levels seen a year ago.
