CBI Initiates Probe Into Controversial Twisha Sharma Death Case

The CBI has begun investigating Twisha Sharma's death following Supreme Court directives. The case, initially handled by Bhopal Police, was transferred due to concerns over a fair trial because of family connections within the legal system. Bhopal Police announced on Tuesday that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has commenced an investigation into the Twisha Sharma death case. According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Anil Sharma, the Bhopal Police have been in consultation with CBI officials for the handover process.

The investigation was prompted by a Supreme Court directive, following extensive legal challenges, to reassign the case from Bhopal Police to the CBI. Initially, the FIR was filed at Katara Hills Police Station, but the CBI has since re-registered it as part of their inquiry process.

Concerns over the impartiality of the investigation stem from the involvement of Twisha Sharma's husband, Samarth Singh, a lawyer, and his mother, a former judicial officer, leading to a widespread perception of bias. The Supreme Court addressed these concerns, advising all parties to avoid speaking with the media to protect the investigation's integrity.
