In a landmark political shift, veteran Congress leader DK Shivakumar officially assumed office as Karnataka's 34th Chief Minister on Wednesday. The swearing-in ceremony, conducted at Bengaluru's Lok Bhavan, marked a new era in the state's leadership with Shivakumar taking his oath on the Indian Constitution. Prominent political and religious figures graced the occasion, signaling unity and support for the new regime.

Complementing the political changeover, the new administration swiftly instituted a strategic reshuffling of key bureaucratic positions. The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms announced crucial appointments, embedding senior IAS officers into pivotal roles to drive the state's executive machinery. In a notable appointment, Tushar Giri Nath, a seasoned officer, now assumes dual responsibilities as Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister and retains oversight of the Urban Development Department.

The reshuffle also saw Rajendra Cholan P stepping in as Secretary to the Chief Minister, retaining his role as the Managing Director of Karnataka Power Corporation Limited. Retired IAS officer Atheeq LK was named Financial Adviser, underscoring the government's focus on fiscal and infrastructure challenges. This reorganization comes as a decisive move to fortify the new administration's control from the onset, with all changes taking effect immediately.
