In a significant green initiative, Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla, has vowed to plant 600,000 saplings under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign. The announcement, made on World Environment Day, comes under the auspices of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guidance. Deputy Chairman Nilabhra Dasgupta stated the port's intention to involve every worker, employee, and officer, each committing to planting at least ten trees.
Dasgupta emphasized the authority’s dedication to environmental responsibility, climate change mitigation, and biodiversity preservation. He revealed plans for integrating green hydrogen plants and the electrification of port equipment, aimed at reducing fossil fuel dependency, demonstrating significant strides towards sustainable energy solutions.
As a major economic hub, Deendayal Port remains steadfast in its commitment to ecological balance and conservation practices. The initiative was made public through an event organized on June 5, aiming to raise environmental awareness among Kandla's populace, aligning with World Environment Day's ethos of global environmental action since its inception in 1973.
