In a significant development, the Jangipara Police in Hooghly have nabbed Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Ramesh Patra, marking another stride in their ongoing anti-corruption campaign. Patra stands accused of swindling a substantial sum of money through deceit and threats.
The case emerged after Tanmay Barui, a business partner from Paspur, lodged a complaint alleging that Patra, with ties to former transport minister Snehashish Chakraborty, exploited political contacts to promise governmental benefits.
