The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) on Monday launched a significant operation targeting unauthorized constructions and encroachments throughout the city. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Saroj Dhayal, reported that in this initiative, approximately 10 to 12 illegal structures are being dismantled, with internet access temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure.

ASP Dhayal stated, 'Today's operation focuses on removing 10 to 12 illegal structures encroaching on the sector road. The situation remains entirely peaceful, with no opposition encountered thus far. Internet services have been frozen to avert any potential misuse that could disrupt public order. Public cooperation in maintaining peace has been commendable.' The directive to halt internet services temporarily came from Jaipur Divisional Commissioner V Saravana Kumar, aimed at curbing rumor spread through social media platforms and preserving public tranquility.

The primary goal of the demolition drive is to expand the road alongside the railway line from Nandpuri Underpass in the Jagatpura area to an 80-foot width. A heightened police presence is part of the demolition process. JDA is actively removing five religious structures, including a mosque, two temples, a satsang bhavan (prayer hall), and a mazar (shrine) that obstruct the road's designated Right of Way (ROW).

According to Anand Sharma, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the JDA Vigilance Branch, 134 encroachments were cleared from this route in a previous operation on May 22. Post that action, religious structure managements were given time to dismantle structures infringing on the road's boundary themselves. With the expiry of this period, the administration has taken decisive steps to carry out the removal operation. (ANI)
