Ayodhya's Safety Overhaul: Crackdown on Public Establishments After Delhi Fire Tragedy

In a decisive move following the tragic fire that claimed 22 lives at a hotel in Delhi's Malviya Nagar, Ayodhya authorities have embarked on an extensive inspection campaign of local public establishments. The Ayodhya Police have examined 20 hotels and restaurants, issuing notices for identified safety shortcomings, according to Chief Fire Officer Mahendra Pratap Singh.

This stringent initiative comes in response to a directive from the Director General urging inspections of hospitals, hotels, restaurants, and other public venues across Uttar Pradesh to prevent similar disasters. Singh emphasized the need for immediate rectification of any deficiencies, underscoring the administration's commitment to public safety.

Amid the growing legal fallout, recent developments in the Delhi incident include a rejected bail plea for hotel cook Keshav Negi, who faces charges linked to the fire. Judicial proceedings have extended custody for key suspects, with additional suspects like hotel accountant Jay Mishra now in police interrogation following his surrender.
