Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge led tributes from senior party members on Thursday, marking the death anniversary of former Union Minister and veteran Congress leader Rajesh Pilot. Kharge praised Pilot’s devotion to farmers and marginalized communities, describing him as a 'brave Air Force officer' and epitome of simplicity in a post on X.

Kharge stated, 'On the death anniversary of Rajesh Pilot, a courageous Air Force officer and senior Congress leader, we offer our heartfelt tribute. His life was dedicated to advocating for farmers, the disadvantaged, and workers, with national welfare as his utmost priority.' He highlighted Pilot's lasting influence on public welfare and social justice.

Similarly, the Uttar Pradesh Congress paid homage, characterizing Pilot as a staunch defender of farmers' interests. The Madhya Pradesh Congress President, Jitu Patwari, reflected on Pilot's beliefs about empowering the underprivileged, quoting him on the necessity of education for the progress of poor farmers' children. Born in Uttar Pradesh, Pilot's journey took him from milkman duties to the Indian Air Force and eventually into politics under Indira Gandhi's mentorship in 1979. He won elections in Bharatpur and Dausa, becoming a prominent Gurjar leader before serving as a minister in several capacities. Rajesh Pilot passed away on June 11, 2000, in a car accident.
