In a transformative approach to water conservation, Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh has launched the 'Mor Gaon, Mor Pani' campaign, encouraging farmers to construct soak pits in paddy fields. This initiative aims to counter water scarcity by effectively using rainwater to recharge the underground water resources.

The campaign, emphasized by Balrampur Collector Chandan Sanjay Tripathi, focuses on voluntary labor to dig these pits, enhancing groundwater levels and soil moisture. Tripathi highlighted the active role of block-level officials in ensuring the campaign's success.

Local farmer Sanjay Minj has already begun constructing soak pits on his land, observing improvements in soil fertility. Community leader Sarpanch Brijlal Lakra supports the initiative, as the district gears up for the monsoon season, aiming for widespread groundwater replenishment.
