Italy's Armani Group on Wednesday expressed confidence in "a positive solution" after the country's competition watchdog revealed it is probing the luxury group for allegedly misleading consumers regarding its social commitment and craftsmanship.

The antitrust authority's investigation follows a probe by Milan prosecutors into suppliers for the Armani Group, who are accused of exploiting workers to produce handbags for the fashion brand.

"The companies involved are fully committed to cooperate with the authorities, believe that the allegations have no merit, and are confident of a positive result following the investigation," the group said in a statement.
