Junior doctors at the state-run Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi began a 'pen-down' agitation on Tuesday, boycotting outpatient department services and elective surgeries.
The protest was sparked by the recent rape and murder of a woman doctor at Kolkata's R G Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Despite the agitation, the junior doctors continued to attend emergency services, emphasizing their commitment to patient care. "Around 200 doctors have joined the agitation, with senior resident doctors also offering their support," said Ankit Kumar, president of the Junior Doctors' Association (JDA) at RIMS. They are demanding a CBI probe into the incident and enhanced safety measures for doctors at their workplaces.
