In a bid to ensure India's future prosperity, Union Minister Jitendra Singh emphasizes the critical need to tackle the rising epidemic of diabetes and obesity among its youth. Speaking at the Diabetes in Pregnancy Study Group of India's annual conference, Singh highlighted how these health issues threaten the nation's goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Singh noted that more than 70% of India's population is below 40, stressing that the unchecked spread of diabetes and obesity could waste India's vast energy pool. He urged for national responsibility in preserving the youth's vitality to support the country's ambitions.
Preventive measures, particularly addressing diabetes during pregnancy, are pivotal. Singh advocated for enhanced public-private partnerships in healthcare, drawing parallels to India's successes in space, nuclear energy, and biotechnology, to curb the spread of these metabolic disorders.
