In a major development, over 1.06 lakh claims under the Ayushman Vay Vandana Scheme have been settled since its launch in October last year, as revealed by Minister of State for Health, Prataprao Jadhav in the Rajya Sabha.
The government expanded Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) to provide free treatment benefits of up to Rs 5 lakh annually to senior citizens aged 70 and above, using Ayushman Vay Vandana cards, he informed.
An enhanced portability feature allows these beneficiaries access across 31,466 empanelled hospitals countrywide. Meanwhile, substantial improvements in claim settlement times have been witnessed, alongside a robust grievance redressal system ensuring beneficiaries' smooth access to entitled services.
