PM Modi Urges Global South Unity Amid Global Uncertainties at VOGSS

During the third Voice of Global South Summit, held virtually, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the inadequacies of global governance and financial institutions in addressing current global challenges. He called for unity among Global South nations to tackle issues such as climate change, terrorism, and socio-economic divides.

In his opening remarks, PM Modi said, "In 2022, when India took over the G20 presidency, we resolved to restructure the G20. The Voice of Global South Summit became a platform to openly discuss developmental problems and priorities, shaping the G20 agenda around the hopes and aspirations of the Global South." He added that an inclusive and development-oriented approach led to the African Union's historic membership in the G20.

Highlighting the uncertainty of the global scenario, Modi pointed to challenges like the lingering impact of Covid-19, war, and multiple forms of insecurity. He stressed the need for Global South countries to unite, learn from each other's experiences, and work together to address the overpowering challenges of the 21st century.

The summit, themed "An Empowered Global South for a Sustainable Future," aims to expand discussions on pressing global issues disproportionately affecting developing nations. The event aligns with India's philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' and PM Modi's vision of collective global progress.
