Ahead of the U.S. presidential elections in November, over 200 Republicans who previously worked for former President George W. Bush have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president, reported Fox News. The open letter, urging support for Harris over GOP candidate Donald Trump, was signed by several former aides to President George H.W. Bush.
This group had opposed Trump in the 2020 election, warning that his re-election would harm the nation. 'Four years ago, we stated that re-electing President Trump would be a disaster for our democracy,' the letter, published by USA Today, read. The group reiterated their stance, now joined by new George H.W. Bush alumni, and declared their support for Harris and Governor Tim Walz this November.
The Republican officials acknowledged policy disagreements with Harris but emphasized that the alternative is untenable. Trump, meanwhile, accepted the debate with Harris under specific conditions, announcing it would be broadcast live on September 10th in Philadelphia.
