Dual Earthquakes Shake Cuba and Iran

Cuba experienced a 6.1 magnitude earthquake off its northwestern coast, affecting regions up to Florida, Mexico, with no casualties reported. Hours later, a 5.0 magnitude tremor hit Iran's Hormozgan province also without fatalities. Subsequent evacuations and operational suspensions marked safety measures, but no structural devastation was recorded.

In a dramatic sequence of events, both Cuba and Iran were struck by earthquakes, each unsettling different parts of the globe within mere hours of one another. These incidents transpired just a day after a significant seismic occurrence led to a tragic toll in the Philippines.

On Monday, a historically intense earthquake of 6.1 magnitude jolted off the northwestern coast of Cuba, sending shockwaves through regions unaccustomed to such activity, including Mexico and the United States. Early assessments reported no injuries or major structural damage, though the quake originated at a relatively shallow depth of 26 kilometers.

Meanwhile, Iran endured a 5.0 magnitude earthquake in the southern Hormozgan province. This seismic event, also unaccompanied by casualties or injuries, was documented at a depth of 22 kilometers. Driven by precaution, Miami's downtown areas saw building evacuations and suspension of transit operations, with further impacts noted in major Mexican tourist destinations.
