The European Union announced a robust sanctions package on Tuesday, including a visa ban on former Russian military personnel and proxy groups. This initiative intends to heighten pressure on Moscow amid its protracted war in Ukraine.

Shared in a series of posts by the EU's High Representative, Kaja Kallas, the proposal is part of the 21st sanctions package intended to undermine Russia's war economy. It encompasses more than 170 new listings, cutting across Russia's financial and energy sectors, as well as targeting its drone production network.

The sanctions also propose asset freezes on nearly 90 banks and transaction bans on over 30 others. It suggests a tightening of cryptocurrency service restrictions and bans 11 crypto platforms. Further measures include temporary halts on Russian oil price caps and restrictions on the resale of LNG tankers to Russia.
