Isles goalie Lehner leaves game after collision
Islanders goaltender Robin Lehner exited New York's Tuesday game with the Senators due to an undisclosed injury with 4:40 remaining in the third period after a collision with Ottawa's Brady Tkachuk. Lehner left after Tkachuk barreled into him after getting by Brock Nelson at the right side of the crease. Lehner's head appeared to hit the ice, and a team trainer came out to do an examination.
Tkachuk was initially credited with a goal on the play, but after all four officials consulted, they overturned the original call. Ottawa challenged the ruling, and league officials in Toronto ruled the goal counted. The goal, which tied the game 4-4, was awarded to Jean-Gabriel Pageau.
Lehner stopped 21 of the 24 shots he faced before being replaced by Thomas Greiss. The Islanders went on to win 5-4 in a shootout. Lehner is 20-11-5 in his first season with the Islanders.
