Taiwan Monitors China's Missile Tests Amid Rising Tensions

Taiwan's Defence Ministry is monitoring China's missile test-firing operations and has heightened its air force alertness. The Chinese military's actions come as part of increased activities around Taiwan. In response to US support for the island, Beijing has conducted military drills and has been accused by NATO of enabling Russia's war against Ukraine.

Taiwan's Defence Ministry reported Saturday that it is closely monitoring a series of test-firing operations by China's missile unit in a region over 1,600 kilometers from the self-ruled island. The air force has heightened its alertness in response.

China continues to view Taiwan as a breakaway province but this recent display of military might coincides with the US's reiterated support for Taiwan's defense.

The NATO summit highlighted China's role in international conflicts, labeling it a 'decisive enabler' of Russia's aggression in Ukraine, which has further strained global military alliances.
