On the fifth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35(A), Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the move as a watershed moment in India's history. He remarked that it marked the beginning of a new era of progress and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as Ladakh.
In a post on X, Modi assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh that the government would continue to work tirelessly to fulfill their aspirations. He emphasized that scrapping these provisions ensured the Constitution of India is implemented fully, reflecting the vision of its framers.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the abrogation brought security, dignity, and opportunities to women, youth, and marginalized communities, while also curbing the corruption that had plagued the region for decades. The move, undertaken in 2019, also saw the division of the state into two Union territories.
