The Philippines and China's temporary agreement on resupply missions for troops at the South China Sea's Scarborough Shoal could be reviewed, according to a Foreign Affairs official. The Philippines and China have reached a temporary agreement on resupply missions for troops stationed at the South China Sea's Scarborough Shoal. The deal may be reviewed in the future, as noted by a foreign ministry official.
Clashes between the two nations have recently escalated, with Manila accusing a Chinese aircraft of dropping flares in the path of its military plane during a patrol last week. This incident is part of the ongoing tension around the contested Scarborough Shoal.
Despite the agreement, actions by the Chinese air force over the disputed shoal have been condemned by the Philippine Navy as aggressive. The Chinese side maintains its maneuvers were professional and lawful, underscoring the continuing friction over sovereignty claims in the area.
