Despite the recent expiration of a ceasefire, Colombia's government has announced it will not unilaterally break off peace talks with the National Liberation Army (ELN), according to a statement from its peace delegation on Thursday.
The ceasefire between the government and the ELN expired at the start of this month, prompting the government to instruct military and police forces to restart operations against the rebel group.
Nevertheless, officials underscore their commitment to pursuing a diplomatic resolution while maintaining national security measures.
