Supreme Court Steps In to Address Farmers' Grievances

The Supreme Court has taken an active role in resolving ongoing farmers' grievances by announcing the establishment of a multi-member committee. The committee aims to find a permanent solution to the issues faced by farmers.
A bench comprising Justice Surya Kant, Justice Dipankar Datta, and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan set the next hearing date for September 2. The Punjab and Haryana governments were instructed to present key issues affecting farmers to the committee.
The Punjab government informed the court that they had held a meeting with protesting farmers, resulting in a partial opening of the previously blocked highway. The court urged Punjab and Haryana to continue dialogues to vacate highways fully.
