Spain Nominates Teresa Ribera for EU Commissioner Role
The Spanish government has put forward Energy and Environment Minister Teresa Ribera as a candidate for a European Union Commissioner position. The nomination was officially sent by the office of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to the new Commission led by Ursula von der Leyen. The Spanish government has not commented on the nomination.

The Spanish government submitted on Wednesday the candidacy of Energy and Environment Minister Teresa Ribera to become a European Union Commissioner, state news agency EFE reported, citing unnamed sources in the EU.
According to the report, the office of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez sent a formal letter proposing that Ribera, 55, be appointed to the new Commission headed by Ursula von der Leyen.
The Spanish government did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
