Supreme Court Judge Rajesh Bindal underscored the significance of preventing circumstances necessitating victim compensation, which frequently fails to provide substantial relief. Speaking at a book-release event at the Delhi High Court, he shed light on the difficulties in evaluating such compensation, especially in cases of income loss and domestic violence.

Justice Bindal highlighted how courts have devised, and continue to refine, formulas for compensation, citing the significant progress that came with valuing homemakers' labor comparably to male income earners. He stressed that it is crucial to avert situations requiring compensation, as true compensation is often unattainable.

He also addressed the challenges posed by fraudulent compensation claims, which complicate the task of aiding genuine victims of riots and domestic violence, and overburden the legal system with cases based on false allegations. Justice Bindal called for advocates to use mediation and provide proper guidance to prevent such issues, noting that children are the most affected in matrimonial disputes.
