Youth Convicted in Odisha for Heinous Crime

A court in Balasore, Odisha, convicted 19-year-old Sukuar Singh for kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old girl. Sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a Rs 6,000 fine, Singh faces additional imprisonment if the fine isn't paid. The crime occurred in Mayurbhanj after the victim was kidnapped during an opera.

A Balasore court in Odisha has sentenced a 19-year-old youth to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a minor. The convict, Sukuar Singh, has also been fined Rs 6,000 for the crime.

The court's ruling on Tuesday came after reviewing testimonies from 15 witnesses and considering 22 exhibits, as detailed by Special Public Prosecutor Pranab Kumar Panda.

Singh kidnapped the 15-year-old girl while she was at an opera, subsequently holding her at various locations in Mayurbhanj, including Udla and Kaptipada, where the offense took place.
