Poland's foreign minister declared on Tuesday the closure of one of three Russian consulates, attributing the decision to acts of sabotage allegedly sponsored by Moscow. The bold move signifies escalating tensions between the two nations.
Minister Radek Sikorski demanded an immediate cessation of what he described as Russia's 'hybrid war actions' against Poland and its Western allies. He warned Moscow that Poland retains the right to take additional decisive measures should these activities persist.
In a retaliatory statement, Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova promised a 'painful response' to what she termed another hostile act from Poland, highlighting the fraught diplomatic relations.
