Supreme Court Collegium Reconstitution Marks New Era

The Supreme Court Collegium, now under Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, welcomes Justice A S Oka as a new member after the superannuation of former CJI D Y Chandrachud. The five-member collegium, responsible for selecting apex court judges, includes Justices B R Gavai, Surya Kant, Hrishikesh Roy, and A S Oka.

The reconstitution of the Supreme Court Collegium, a significant event following the retirement of ex-CJI D Y Chandrachud, has put Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna at the helm. Justice A S Oka joins as a new member.

The five-member collegium, critical for appointing apex court judges, comprises Justices B R Gavai, Surya Kant, Hrishikesh Roy, and newly inducted A S Oka along with the Chief Justice.

Meanwhile, the three-member collegium responsible for selecting high court judges includes Chief Justice Khanna, with Justices B R Gavai and Surya Kant rounding out the team, maintaining the judicial selection process at the highest level.
