Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters is set to travel to the United States later this week for key diplomatic discussions in New York and Washington DC. The visit aims to reinforce New Zealand's strong relationship with the United States and engage in critical talks on global affairs.
During his time in Washington DC, Mr. Peters will meet with members of the Trump Administration, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as well as other U.S. political figures. These discussions will focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation between New Zealand and the United States.
"The United States is one of New Zealand's most significant and valued partners," Mr. Peters stated. "This visit provides an opportunity for direct engagement with the Trump Administration on matters of mutual interest and the future of our close cooperation."
In addition to Washington DC, Mr. Peters will travel to New York for high-level meetings with senior representatives of the United Nations. The agenda will include discussions on global challenges such as security cooperation, the situation in Ukraine, ongoing conflicts in Gaza, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
"There are pressing global issues that require international collaboration, and we look forward to discussing them both at the UN and in Washington DC," Mr. Peters said.

Mr. Peters is scheduled to depart New Zealand on Thursday, 13 March, and will return on Friday, 21 March.
