Authorities Invoke National Security Act in Indore After Cricket Celebration Turns Violent

Authorities in Indore have taken decisive action against two individuals said to have instigated violence during a celebratory cricket rally following India's triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy. The National Security Act (NSA) has been invoked in response to the disturbances in Mhow town.

Violence erupted when the rally, conducted to mark the Indian team's victory, was attacked with stones. To preserve peace and order, the District Magistrate, following reports from law enforcement, issued NSA orders against Sohail Qureshi and Ejaz Khan for their alleged roles in inciting violence.

The district administration stated that Qureshi and Khan face a raft of charges including rioting and disrupting public order. The police have already registered several First Information Reports and arrested multiple individuals connected to the incident, underpinning the efforts to maintain communal harmony in the region.
