Turkey's Strategic Role in Ukraine Peace Talks: A Diplomatic Push

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has proposed Turkey play a pivotal role in the Ukraine peace process. This comes as the U.S. resumes military aid to Ukraine, following Kyiv's backing of a 30-day ceasefire with Russia. Turkey is prepared to host further negotiations.

During a meeting in Ankara on Wednesday, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk encouraged Turkey to assume a major role in the peace process for Ukraine. This proposal was discussed in a joint news conference with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.

The development follows the United States' decision to renew military aid and intelligence support to Ukraine. This move came after Ukraine expressed its willingness to back Washington's proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Russia, as announced in a joint statement by the involved nations.

President Erdogan echoed Tusk's plea, welcoming Ukraine's support for the ceasefire and urging Russia to respond favorably. He further indicated Turkey's readiness to facilitate negotiations, highlighting the nation's strategic position as a NATO ally maintaining ties with both Kyiv and Moscow.
