The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday directed the Punjab government to explain the delay in registering an FIR concerning an assault case involving an army colonel. The court set a deadline of March 28 for the detailed response.
Colonel Bath alleged that 12 Punjab Police personnel attacked him and his son over a parking dispute, leading to serious injuries. Despite immediately reporting the incident, Bath claims the local police delayed taking action and manipulated evidence.
The high court expressed shock at the alleged mishandling and highlighted concerns about justice and accountability. The case may potentially be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to ensure impartiality and maintain public confidence in law enforcement.
