During a recent assembly debate, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reported a significant decline in crimes against women and children under the BJP government's rule. Majhi emphasized a reduction in various crime rates, defending against opposition accusations of a rise in crime, and highlighting the administration's zero-tolerance approach towards offenders.
He criticized the opposition, particularly Congress, for not acknowledging the government's efforts, while the debate continued without opposition members due to a walkout and suspensions. Majhi expressed disappointment at their absence from crucial budget discussions, underscoring the importance of dialogue in governance.
Majhi also took the opportunity to highlight his administration's initiatives to modernize the police force and took a jab at his predecessor, Naveen Patnaik, for his absence from the assembly and lack of engagement with grievance proceedings.
