The Congress Party in Gujarat has put forward an impassioned demand for the BJP government to officially recognize the cow as 'Rajya Mata' or state mother. This proposal was made during a recent assembly discussion about a bill focused on regulating bovine breeding.
The party argued that such recognition would ensure the sacred animal receives the protection it deserves, citing issues like insufficient grazing land and improper care. Legislator Amit Chavda pointed out that industrial land usage had adversely affected cows, while also pressing for increased state support for cow shelters.
Through this demand, Chavda emphasized the cultural importance of cows in Hindu society, asserting that more should be done to provide these animals with the necessary resources. The bill calling for this recognition currently awaits further governmental consideration.
