The Maharashtra government has launched an investigation following allegations of an attempt to illegally acquire 42 acres of forest land in Nagpur district, as confirmed by an official statement on Friday.
In response to the complaints, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule convened a high-level meeting at Mantralaya on Thursday night. The meeting, attended by District Collector Vipin Itankar and senior forest officials, concluded with a directive to submit an immediate report on the issue.
Concerns have risen among locals who claim that certain forest department officials and private individuals conspired to divert the valuable forest land worth crores. Bawankule referred to the alleged plot as a serious corruption case, vowing not to spare those responsible. The minister emphasized the importance of a comprehensive investigation, pledging to unveil the scheme's complexities and enforce strict consequences.
