Capitol Rioter Sentenced: Edward Kelley’s Life Term for FBI Murder Plot

Edward Kelley, a participant in the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol attack, has been sentenced to life in prison. The punishment comes after Kelley's conviction for plotting to murder FBI agents investigating him, as per the U.S. Justice Department and court records.

Kelley was accused of formulating plans, with another individual, to assault the FBI field office in Knoxville, Tennessee, using explosives. In addition, he allegedly created a 'kill list' targeting federal law enforcement personnel in the region. His co-conspirator, Austin Carter, has admitted guilt in the scheme and awaits sentencing.

Kelley's initial charges related to the Capitol storming, where he was acquitted due to a clemency order from former President Trump, were unrelated to his Tennessee plot, a judge ruled. The Justice Department also refuted Kelley's argument that Trump's pardon should extend to these charges.
