The Delhi High Court has declined to advance the hearing date for Lalu Prasad Yadav's plea challenging the FIR in the CBI's land-for-jobs case. Justices upheld the scheduled hearing on August 12, 2025, noting the date was not distant and previously dismissed stay requests remained valid.
Yadav, represented by senior advocate Kapil Sibal, argued that the trial court's imminent hearings on charges could render his high court plea redundant. However, his application faced rejection since both the high and Supreme Courts had earlier refused to stay trial proceedings.
The case pertains to alleged irregularities during Yadav's tenure as railway minister, involving Group D appointments in return for land, and has seen chargesheets and prolongation controversies since its inception in 2022.
