Indore Cracks Down: 'No Helmet, No Petrol' Initiative Enforced

Indore's administration has implemented a 'No Helmet, No Petrol' policy, prohibiting fuel sales to two-wheeler riders without helmets. A petrol station was sealed for non-compliance. This move follows directives from the Road Safety Committee, aiming to improve adherence to safety rules under new legislation including potential fines and jail terms.

In a decisive move to enhance road safety, the administration in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, enforced a new regulation prohibiting the sale of fuel to two-wheeler riders without helmets. This initiative aims to foster compliance with safety protocols.

A petrol pump on Arandia Bypass was shut down for not adhering to this mandate, as it sold fuel to helmetless riders and lacked proper signage urging helmet use, officials reported.

Following a directive from former Supreme Court judge and Road Safety Committee chairman, Abhay Manohar Sapre, efforts are being intensified by sub-divisional magistrate-led inspection teams across the district to ensure strict adherence to road safety rules.
