In a significant operation by Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh police, two individuals were arrested in Thane district for alleged involvement in radicalizing people and discussing jihad on a WhatsApp group.
Acting on specific intelligence, Anti-Terrorism Squads from both states raided a house in Badlapur, leading to the apprehension of the individuals, officials disclosed. One of the accused hails from Uttar Pradesh, while the second is a local resident of Badlapur.
The WhatsApp group allegedly aimed to radicalize individuals for a terror organization, with connections to Pakistani operatives. Following the arrest and interrogation process, further investigations are ongoing under the UP ATS, officials confirmed.
