Uttar Pradesh has tightened its grip on drone regulations following a directive from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Several districts, including Ayodhya, Muzaffarnagar, Mathura, Meerut, and Bijnor, have issued bans on unauthorized drone activity to combat the spread of rumors and alleviate public anxiety, officials reported on Monday.

With Ayodhya's prior restrictions limited to the temple vicinity, the district now enforces a blanket ban. Ayodhya District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram Funde declared the prohibition at a joint press conference, citing powers under BNSS Section 163 and emphasizing concern over suspicious drone activities possibly aiding criminal acts.

The crackdown follows a high-level videoconference led by CM Adityanath, prioritizing strict monitoring of drone activities after multiple arrests related to drone-induced rumors. Unauthorized drone usage could invoke severe penalties under the Gangsters Act or the National Security Act, a firm stance echoed across the state as districts like Muzaffarnagar and Mathura implement rigorous approval protocols.
