Supreme Court Overhauls Gender Sensitisation Panel

The Supreme Court of India has reconstituted its Gender Sensitisation and Internal Complaints Committee, led by Justice B V Nagarathna. The 12-member panel includes judges, advocates, and human rights analysts to enhance gender sensitivity and address sexual harassment cases.

In a significant development, the Supreme Court of India has revamped its Gender Sensitisation and Internal Complaints Committee. The reconstitution was executed under the powers granted by the regulations pertaining to sexual harassment prevention.

Headed by Justice B V Nagarathna, the new 12-member panel comprises prominent figures, including Justice Nongmeikapam Kotiswar Singh and senior advocates such as Menaka Guruswamy and Bansuri Swaraj.

The committee's objective is to fortify mechanisms against sexual harassment and promote gender sensitivity within the institution, as it includes diverse representations from various legal and advocacy backgrounds.
